Youth Ministry
1 Timothy 4:12 - “Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” This was our theme throughout the fabulous week we spent together at Hero Headquarters. And we will continue to use these words to guide us through the upcoming year. Keep them posted on your refrigerator or your bulletin board. Better yet, keep them in your hearts. Ms. Lou Ann, Ms. Nancy and the St. Georges UMC Youth Team
WHO’S A HERO? Looks who’s a hero! Why, you are, of course!! Yes, all of us who attended Vacation Bible School the week of July 19-23 have learned that you don’t have to be famous to be a hero. Little things mean a lot, and you never know when something you do or say will make you a hero to a family member, a friend, or someone you don’t even know.
The laughter lingers on after a week of fun and fantastic festivities at VBS. Good games, scrumptious snacks, cool crafts and super skits...all contributed to memories not soon forgotten. Many thanks to the wonderful volunteers who brought Hero Headquarters to life. And thank you, kids, for your energy and enthusiasm. We love you all!
GOD IS MY HERO (Hero Headquarters Theme Song)
Sign up, show up, join forces with God!
He’s sthe biggest hero of them all.
Stand out, give a shout. Show the world what it’s all about.
He’s the biggest hero of them all.
H-E-R-O, GOD IS MY HERO!
H-E-R-O, GOD IS MY HERO!
Are you … YOUNG in Spirit … YOUNG at Heart? The Youth TEAM would love to have you as part of our TEAM! Join the Fun … it’s so rewarding.
SUNDAY SCHOOL will be here before you know it. We need 2 assistants to meet our “Safe Sanctuary Guidelines” - Middle School Assistant and Teen/High School Assistant. If you can’t commit to every Sunday but are willing to commit to 1 or 2 Sundays a month to help, we can use you! A short gathering is planned for All Teachers & Assistants on Sunday Aug. 29th before Worship (9am) to “rally” together & review our Next Sunday School Year.
SAFE SANCTUARY TRAINING COMING UP . . .
Those of us who volunteered to work at Vacation Bible School this summer were greatly rewarded interacting with our precious little ones. What a blessing they are to all of us. If you would like to help us with future events, please consider becoming Safe Sanctuary Certified. To do so, only three steps are required.
You must complete a background check. To do so, see Earl Jaques or Lou Ann Lester for form to be filled out & submitted. All information will be kept strictly confidential. Next, plan to attend our Safe Sanctuary Workshop on Saturday, August 14, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Georges UMC. Last, if you are not certified to perform CPR, join us Tuesday evening, August 17, at 6:00 p.m. for a CPR class. Pizza and “light bite” will be available. John Atkinson, Delaware State Fire School will be our instructor. Certification lasts for two years. If you are already certified, check the expiration date on your CPR card. If it expires soon (and for many of us, certification expires this November) this is the perfect opportunity to renew. Our church will cover the $5 CPR class as well as supper on the seventeenth.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms.Lou Ann, (302) 836-1103 or st.georgesyouthnews@verizon.net
